Safety Procedures

SAFETY GLASSES ARE TO BE WORN AT ALL TIMES WHEN MACHINERY IS IN OPERATION OR WHEN COMPRESSED AIR IS BEING USED.

Closed toe shoes and long pants are required at all times in this lab.

Do not wear loose clothing when operating equipment. Make sure long hair is tied back and out of the way.

Do not operate equipment unless you have been trained on its operation and a lab monitor is present.

  • Special exemptions for the presence of a lab monitor can be given in certain cases, but only if specific requirements are met.

Do not attempt to physically stop or interfere with a machine while it is in motion.

  • Use the pause or emergency stop buttons if you need to stop a machine.
  • Be aware that the emergency stop button will completely shut down the machine, requiring a complete restart.

Do not leave running equipment unattended.

  • The 3D printers are an exception to this rule, but only once you have verified the printer is running correctly.

Make sure machine settings match the material being used.

Clean the machine after each use.
